Linux, a graphics card with Vulkan (AMD, Intel or NVIDIA) and ffmpeg. Localscale downloads the AI models itself on first launch, about 10 MB in total.
No. Everything is processed on your computer. Localscale only goes online to download the models.
On a fast graphics card, an anime episode is done in about 13 minutes and a 720p feature film in just over two hours. Slower cards take longer. The app estimates the time before you start.
It helps most with small but clean footage. Heavily compressed clips come out calmer and sharper, but not like new.
No, only for Linux at the moment. That’s where it’s built and tested.
Yes. Import your own ncnn models (.param and .bin) in Settings under Models. Localscale measures the scale factor itself when it loads them.

./install.shThe script installs ffmpeg and ncnn through pacman if needed, builds the app and adds it to your app menu. Rust must be installed.
